【摘要】:Defacementofpaintandcoatingfilmsbyfungalgrowth(mold,mildew)isacommonphenomenon,anddefacementbyalgalgrowthcanalsooccurundercertainconditions.Itisgenerallyknownthatdifferencesintheenvironment,lighting,temperature,humidity,substratepH,andotherfactorsinadditiontothecoatingcompositionaffectthesusceptibilityofagivenpaintedsurface.Thistestmethodattemptstoprovideameanstocomparativelyevaluatedifferentcoatingformulationsfortheirrelativeperformanceunderagivensetofconditions.Itdoesnotimplythatacoatingthatresistsgrowthundertheseconditionswillnecessarilyresistgrowthintheactualapplication.Note18212;Itishopedthatarankingofrelativeperformancewouldbesimilartothatrankedfromoutdoorexposures.However,thistestmethodshouldnotbeusedasareplacementforexteriorexposure(thatis,PracticeD3456)sincemanyotherfactors,onlyafewofwhicharelistedwillaffectthoseresults.Note28212;Severalcompanieshavereportedreasonablecorrelationofresultsfromthistestwithactualusewhentestingfilm-forming,pigmentedcoatings.Round-robintestingofthistestmethodversusexteriorexposureisplanned.Familiaritywithmicrobiologicaltechniquesisrequired.Thistestmethodshouldnotbeusedbypersonswithoutatleastbasicmicrobiologicaltraining.1.1Thistestmethodcoversanacceleratedmethodfordeterminingtherelativeresistanceoftwoormorepaintsorcoatingfilmstofungalgrowth.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
