【摘要】:Thesetestmethodsareusedtodetectsurfacelossesincarboncontentduetoheatingatelevatedtemperatures,asinhotworkingorheattreatment.Resultsofsuchtestsmaybeusedtoqualifymaterialforshipmentaccordingtoagreeduponguidelinesbetweenpurchaserandmanufacturer,forguidanceastomachiningallowances,ortoassesstheinfluenceofprocessingupondecarburizationtendency.Screeningtestsaresimple,fast,low-costtestsdesignedtoseparatenon-decarburizedsamplesfromthosewithappreciabledecarburization.Basedontheresultsofsuchtests,theotherproceduresmaybeutilizedasapplicable.Microscopicaltestsrequireametallographicallypol-ishedcrosssectiontopermitreasonablyaccuratedetermina-tionofthedepthandnatureofthedecarburizationpresent.Severalmethodsmaybeemployedforestimationofthedepthofdecarburization.Thestatisticalaccuracyofeachvarieswiththeamountofeffortexpended.Microindentationhardnessmethodsareemployedonpolishedcrosssectionsandaremostsuitableforhardenedspecimenswithreasonablyuniformmicrostructures.Thisprocedurecanbeusedtodefinethedepthtoaspecificminimumhardnessorthedepthtoauniformhardness.Chemicalanalyticalmethodsarelimitedtospecimenswithsimple,uniformshapesandarebasedonanalysisofincrementalturningsoraftermillingatfixedincrements.Microscopicaltestsaregenerallysatisfactoryfordeterminingthesuitabilityofmaterialforintendeduse,specificationacceptance,manufacturingcontrol,development,orresearch.1.1Thesetestmethodscoverproceduresforestimatingthedepthofdecarburizationofsteelsirrespectiveofthecomposition,matrixmicrostructure,orsectionshape.Thefollowingbasicproceduresmaybeused:1.1.1Screeningmethods.1.1.2Microscopicalmethods.1.1.3Microindentationhardnessmethods.1.1.4Chemicalanalysismethods.1.2Incaseofadispute,therigorousquantitativeorlinealanalysismethod(see7.3.5and7.3.6)shallbetherefereemethod.Thesemethodscanbeemployedwithanycross-sectionalshape.Thechemicalanalyticalmethodsgenerallyrevealagreaterdepthofdecarburizationthanthemicroscopicalmethodsbutarelimitedtocertainsimpleshapesandbyavailabilityofequipment.Thesetechniquesaregenerallyreservedforresearchstudies.Themicroindentationhardnessmethodissuitableforaccuratemeasurementsofhardenedstructureswithrelativelyhomogeneousmicrostructures.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Theinch-poundequivalentsareinparenthesesandmaybeapproximate.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
